Founded by Morgan O'Sullivan, James Flynn and Juanita Wilson, Octagon Films Limited is a multi-disciplined production company that brings over 13 years' experience on over 70 feature film and TV series / projects.

The core team comprises James Flynn and Morgan O' Sullivan (Producers), Juanita Wilson (Writer/Director), Ronan Flynn (Head of Business & Legal Affairs), Aaron Farrell (Project Manager), and Louise Shore (Project Co-ordinator).

Either as an official co-producer or production services provider, Octagon Films has long-established relationships with local crew and funders and is a focused team highly motivated to ensure that foreign co-producers and/or incoming productions have a positive experience filming in Ireland.

These services extend not only to securing Section 481 investment and, where applicable, other sources of local investment, but also script review and location assessment, production budgets, schedules, recces, legal and financial support and establishment and management of the project-specific Irish production to produce and deliver the qualifying film.

  • Full guidance re location recces, clearances, cast and crew contracts.
  • Experienced local cast, crew and talent selection.
  • Legal and financial documentation processing and compliance in relation to the Irish production financing.
  • Formation of the project-specific Irish production company including its audit and liquidation upon project completion, delivery and acceptance.
  • General production services including the analysis of the eligible spend component of a qualifying project whereby one can raise up to 80% of the production budget by way of Section 481 investment.

James Flynn

JAMES FLYNN, Managing Director and Producer oversees the production of the company's projects from a creative and financial perspective. His role is all-encompassing from the initiation of a project to packaging and financing, satisfying his passion for all that is film. He was a founder member of Moonstone International 1997-2008, was nominated for Oscars® in 2010 as producer of THE DOOR and has been a board member of Screen Producers Ireland since 2001.

Juanita Wilson

JUANITA WILSON sources new projects for development and is currently writing and directing her own material for Octagon having previously worked as a development producer for the company since its inception. She was selected as one of Variety's top ten directors to watch in 2011 based on the critical success of her first feature AS IF I AM NOT THERE, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was Ireland's official submission to the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 84th Oscars®. She was awarded the prestigious Katrin Cartlidge Foundation Bursary at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2009.

Ronan Flynn

RONAN FLYNN joined Octagon as Head of Business Affairs in April 2009. His primary function is to manage the day-to-day running of the company. He specializes in arranging Section 481 financing for feature film and TV projects and drives the commercial and legal closings of these projects. Ronan previously worked in commercial real estate lending in the US and UK.

Aaron Farrell

Project Manager AARON FARRELL manages the slate of projects in development and pre-production. Responsibilities include development and production finance applications and compliance and liaison with film funders. He co-produced CHERRYBOMB which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2009. Aaron previously worked as a freelance Production Co-ordinator and holds an MA in Film Studies from U.C.D.

Morgan O'Sullivan

MORGAN O'SULLIVAN is Ireland's leading producer of U.S-originated feature films and television drama. Morgan is the principal of World 2000 which has formed a strategic alliance with Octagon to work together on projects sourced in the U.S. His recent credits include CAMELOT, THE TUDORS and the highly anticipated VIKINGS. He was a member of the Irish Film Board 2000-05 and was presented with the Outstanding Contribution to Industry Award at the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA's) 2011.

Steve Matthews

Producer and development exec STEVE MATTHEWS joined Octagon in May 2010. Steve is the script editor and consulting producer on THE BORGIAS, now in its third season, and has just finished producing the third series of LOVE/HATE. He was formerly Head of Development at Ray Winstone's Size 9 Productions and previously worked as a script editor at the BBC on SILENT WITNESS. Steve is a guest lecturer in screenwriting at the Tisch School of Arts, NYU and was an external examiner for the Screenwriting degree at Bournemouth University.

Suzanne McAuley

SUZANNE MCAULEY, Producer, has worked with the Octagon team since 2008. Her role involves producing indigenous television drama and consulting on incoming projects, in particular UK television drama. Suzanne's producing credits include the award winning TV drama LOVE/HATE Series 1,2 & 3 (starring Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gillen) and the successful RTE TV Drama RAW – currently in its fifth year.

Louise Shore

Project Co-ordinator Louise Shore assists in all areas of project development and pre-production at Octagon Films. After obtaining her MA she moved to Los Angeles to work as a freelance Production Co-ordinator. Louise then joined producer and screenwriter Dana Fox's team where she worked on a slate of TV and film projects before deciding to return to Dublin.
